Introduction

The Ad Channel feature (sometimes called Sub ID tracking) is an advanced tracking tool publishers/affiliates use for maximum traffic optimization. It is used to better understand which of your promotion efforts are paying off and which aren't. For example, if you have multiple websites or banner placements, you'll have an insight into which ones are performing.

Please follow the steps below to utilize this simple yet powerful feature.

First Step: Creating new Ad channels.

Navigate to the left-hand menu and click on the 'Promotions' then click on 'Ad channels.' It will open a new page called Ad Channels.

(Note: screen layout is different when you're logged in using your smartphone)

Since you are adding an ad channel for the first time, the list will be empty. To add a new ad channel, click on the red button called 'add channel.'

Immediately after clicking the button, a new row will be added. Rename the new ad channel and its code to what's appropriate for your business.

In our example below, we renamed the channel to My Review Site and the code as my_review_site. (Please use the '_' in place of spaces and avoid using symbols as it may affect your URL parameters). To save your changes, please click the 'Save modified rows' button.

Second Step: Using your newly created Ad channels.

Go to the 'Banners & Links' page, then go to the 'Additional data' box (see arrow below). Click on Channel's drop-down menu and you should see the Ad channel you created in Step 1.

You can also make use of the data1 and data2 fields for additional details (extremely useful when you have numerous mediums and campaigns). In our example below, we entered facebook_ads in data1 (for our medium) and valentines_campaign in data2 (as our campaign name).

Click the Apply button just below the blue box.

As you extract your affiliate link, you'll notice additional parameters. In our case, the additional data we entered above were added as additional parameters.

Third Step: Reviewing your Ad channel's performance.

Navigate to the Reports page, then click on the 'Channel stats report.' If you are using your Ad channels on your affiliate links, you will see their performance such as impressions, clicks, sale commissions, etc. You can also export a CSV file if needed.
